What is GMO?

GMOs, or “genetically modified organisms,” are plants or animals created through the gene splicing techniques of biotechnology (also called genetic engineering, or GE). This experimental technology merges DNA from different species, creating unstable combinations of plant, animal, bacterial and viral genes that cannot occur in nature or in traditional crossbreeding.

Key ideas:

  • GMO are enhanced plants, animals and crops.
  • Created by splicing DNA by different species
  • Results are unpredictable
  • Cannot be created by nature or in traditional crossbreeding
Paraphrasing: GMO or Genetically modified organisms are plants, animals and crops and etc. that are genetically modified by scientist using biotechnology and genetic engineering. In GMO the scientist extracts DNA from an organism and place in another Organisms DNA and creating different kinds of combinations of it. When Scientist test GMO they will mostly get an unpredictable result which will be researched and studied. Traditional crossbreeding used different methods and techniques like selective and artificial breeding and others. GMO is unpredictable and can be dangerous and good for us.
